2007

We have already had the 2008 Qualifier for the Hunter Trials at Matfield on 14th October, unfortunately our novice team dwindled to two individuals Sally Wheeler and Simply Simon IV who did very well and finished on 7.2 time penalties and Kirsty Lewis and Diamond Franco who finished with no penalties whatsoever to win the class and have qualified

If you wish to represent Battle in the Area 10 2008 Qualifiers then you need to make sure your horses Flu Certificate is correct (we can check it for you), we also need a copy of it. A list of your Equine qualifications is required along with details of all the points/money your horse has won in any of the following: BSJA, BE, BD. Details of the Qualifier you are interested in and your availability for that Qualifier and details of when you can help is also required. Each discipline has various restrictions so if we know what you have done we can (hopefully) only enter you in things you are eligible for.

The club runs lots of training in the various disciplines to assist all members and also runs training specific to the Qualifier that is coming up next.

AREA TEAM REPORT

The club has this year sent representatives in all disciplines to all Area 10 Qualifiers. The results have been encouraging on the whole with some riders and their horses doing really well.

With it being a small club there is only a small number of members who are interested in representing the club at these events. The club is willing to support any member who wishes to compete at these events and we look forward to more of you wishing to compete next year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members who have represented the club this year :

Area 10 Show Jumping Qualifiers
Felbridge Showground, W. Sussex

Sunday, 8th July 2007

It was a lovely hot day which made a nice change after all the rain at Borde Hill . The club had entered a Novice and Intermediate Team. Unfortunately the Novice Team was one down on the day and the Intermediate Team became one Individual, Kirsty Lewis and Diamond France who went clear in the first round and had 4 faults in the second round. The course was big and technical and there were not many double clears, and as a result Kirsty was placed 5th as an Individual.

The Novice Team was Diana Blackman and Whatnot, Alice Mardell and Noble and Claire Shoesmith and The Harlequin. Di and Claire went clear in the first round and had 4 faults in the second. Unfortunately Alice had faults in both rounds as Noble got carried away with the occasion and the team were not placed. Well done to you all.

Very well done in appalling conditions to all who competed and to Loraine and Linda who gave up their time to help.

Teams of Three Show Jumping Championship
HICKSTEAD
29th July 2007

This event was held after another really wet spell and it was a case of mud, mud, glorious mud although it was hot on the day.  There were was a long delay once arriving at the show ground as everyone had to be towed in and out and there were only a few tractors to do this. In fact one lorry had to be towed in by  3 tractors used together.

The club entered one team which was Claire Shoesmith on The Harlequin, Alice Mardell on Noble and Kirsty Lewis on Diamond Franco. Due to the wet weather prior to our competition the event was held in the new Horseware arena which had an all weather surface. Each rider jumps one round only, Claire and Kirsty went clear and Alice had some faults but everyone did very well. There were 85 teams competing from all over the country and the club finished in the top half of the competition so well done to you all.
