TRAINING

Fun and useful!

All training sessions are relaxed affairs geared to the needs of the horse and rider partnership. Because they are low key it is extremely unlikely to attract an audience! So don’t hold back. If you do want to join in but can’t do the date get in touch and we’ll be happy to make alternative arrangements. Don’t forget that you need to wear hard hats (for everything) and body protectors for cross country (whatever the level.) See the website for guidance on this. Don’t forget if you want us to arrange a particular trainer to do clinics – CAN DO!

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Back protectors should be worn at all times for X country riding and are recommended for show jumping. Hats must be manufactured to specification EN1384, PASO15, or prefixed with ASTM or SEI as the minimum standard allowed. BSEN14572 is the next standard to be introduced, which is intended to run alongside EN 1834.( Greater protection is considered to be offered by prefixes PAS & ASTM.)
When mounted, everyone must wear a correctly adjusted and fastened hat.

CROSS COUNTRY

Practice sessions are available on demand with venues to suit all levels.
Contact Di Blackman on 01424 813465 if you need us to organize a session.

combined training

The combined training clinic and competition held in August was very successful. This is something we will probably repeat next year. The blend of clinic followed by the competition 2 weeks later was appreciated, particualry as you could attend one and not the other, and on the competition day could do only dressage if you felt still not quite up to competing!

STABLE MANAGEMENT TRAINING

first aid course

This summer Battle ran a first aiders training session at Marsham Farm courtesy of Nick and Alison Jones. These days there are increasing numbers of legislative rules and regulations that as a club we must fulfil. Our objective was to have a number of qualified first aiders who can be called upon to attend low risk events we run where there is no real requirement for paramedics or StJohns Ambulance to be there.
The costs involved with St Johns or teams of paramedics is very high, and whilst we would always have them in attendance at cross country or higher risk events, we felt that qualified first aiders would be quite competent to manage at low key dressage or clinics.
The session lasting 3-4 hours with lunch, was very well done, with 10 attendees. So Battle can now cover this important area with confidence – with the added benefit of saving the Riding Club some considerable amounts of money!
